What they say

Melissa was genuinely interested and invested in my career from the beginning. Her industry knowledge, combined with an ability to really listen and understand what I was looking for, made me totally at ease and confident in her guidance.

She wrote me a fantastic cover letter, was always available on email and text, gave great interview advice and, when I was offered the role, helped negotiate terms and get the best possible result. Plus on the first day at my new company a lovely card was waiting for me! Melissa was instrumental in finding the perfect role for me and I would highly recommend her to anyone.

Interview advice

Sweaty palms? Shredded nerves? Read on . . .

Be prepared

  • Check the industry press for news on the agency you are visiting and take a look at their website using the URL we give you
  • Research the position you are interviewing for. We will provide details along with a job spec
  • Find out as much as possible about the accounts you will be working on
  • Take the time to read through your CV to refresh your memory about your skills and relevant experience
  • Prepare some thoughtful and intelligent questions about the agency and the account/role you are being interviewed for

Be on time

  • Know the location. We will provide you with the address and a map
  • Prepare your route in advance. Give us a call or visit www.tfl.gov.uk/journeyplanner
  • If you are running late, let us know and keep your mobile switched on

Be confident

  • By this we mean firm handshakes, positive answers and big smiles. We know it can be daunting but they really want to see you
  • Listen carefully to what they are saying, show an interest in the agency and enthuse about the role. Ask questions where appropriate and do your best to demonstrate your skills and knowledge when you can

Be careful what you say

  • Don’t make the classic mistake of badmouthing your current agency. Be diplomatic and provide sensible, positive reasons as to why you want to move on

Be yourself

  • The smartest, politest, shiniest-shoes version of yourself, that is
  • Let your personality show through. Remember, you have been selected for your unique qualities and skills
  • And don't forget to let us know how it goes. The sooner we can provide feedback to the agency, the sooner we'll have feedback for you. Good luck!
