Hints on writing your CV

Your CV will 'sell' you to any prospective employer, so take the time to get it right.

  • Keep it simple and focused
  • Make sure it's no longer than 2-3 pages
  • Include a personal profile - this will be the first thing an employer will read. Summing yourself up in a couple of well-chosen sentences can make you stand out from the crowd
  • List your most recent experience first, including name of employer, your job title, your responsibilities and most importantly your achievements within each role you've had
  • Include your academic background, degree, A levels and GCSEs
  • List any additional and relevant professional courses/qualifications you may have
  • Adding your personal interests will give an insight into what makes you tick
  • And finally check your spelling and grammar very carefully
